Good morning, Luceti. My name is Ororo, known by some as Storm. Some of you might have seen me at the Battle Dome with my students. What I do is help people with special abilities learn control over their powers. In my world, we call these abilities mutations, as they are tied to a genetic anomaly in our DNA. But really, they aren't quite that different from the different sorts of powers many people here in Luceti appear to possess.

Some of you might be familiar with my friend and colleague Wolverine, who has previously made offers to extend our help to those who want it. Well, I am here to reiterate that the offer still stands, and if any of you are in particular need of guidance or training in controlling such powers, we can do our level best to assist you.

[ A friendly, open smile. ]

[ And true to her word, Ororo can be found at the Battle Dome for most of the day, as was the norm for the past week and half. Logan's still on his mission, so it's just been her (and Natasha, on occasion!) overseeing the various training sims for the X-Men and other interested parties. She's not an expert in hand to hand combat - that's Logan's deal - so a lot of the sims instead have had a focus on strategy and simulated rescue ops.

For those who aren't participating in a demo, they can catch her designing a program at the console. Tomorrow's a Friday, so for the team session she was thinking of perhaps setting up a game of all-powers-allowed volleyball. It would have been nice to play a game outside, with the weather so wonderful lately, but it runs the risk of being a little... rambunctious. Teenagers with powers kind of tend to be competitive, she's learned. ]

[ Late in the afternoon finds her returning to House 16. It's been a long day, and she still needs to tend to her garden! So she sees to that first before even thinking about heading inside for some rest. She hopes, vaguely, that the X-Kids have left some food of the not-junk variety, or else she'll need to make a trip over to Seventh Heaven for dinner. ]

[For a brief, brief moment, Rin thinks to himself "man, why was I stuck with Wolverine when I could have worked with her?"

But then he dismisses that thought. It is an ugly thought and more than that, he's pretty sure Wolverine can smell his thoughts, particularly because they're right next door.]

So you lookin' for students for yourself, or more for him? 'Cus if it's for him, you gotta warn 'em.

A warning? [Ororo chuckles, kind of surprised.] Do you really think that's necessary?

Yes?!

[...He should filter this]

He's cool and all, but he's also totally scary!

[Poor Rin. Ororo ups the filter a little; she can respect a need for privacy.]

Perhaps on face value. But he is not that bad at all, once you get to know him. Otherwise, why would he have as many students willing to train under his supervision?

[Seriously. The teenage girls flock to him, it's the most amusing thing in Ororo's humble opinion.]

[She's put this off for too long. There's always seemed to be some reason, something filling her time or getting her attention just enough to keep her from taking that next step. But now she's stabilized again, and more importantly, she'd almost completely lost control when she hadn't been. After that night of waking up in terror, realizing that she'd almost killed Tony and herself because of a dream, Pepper finally decides to get the help she needs.

Ororo's announcement comes at a perfect time.

It's not something Pepper's comfortable talking about, however. All the horrors tied into what she's become leave her unwilling to put it over the journal, even in a filtered response. So she leaves the gallery earlier than normal, heading for the Battle Dome mid-morning to find the woman in question. She finds her at the console, and Pepper approaches, hoping not to disrupt her.]

Hey, Ororo. Do you have some time to talk?

[ Pepper catches her at a lull between sessions. Still in uniform (she will be, for most of the day!), Ororo turns and gives Pepper a look of pleasant surprise - but only a flash, because as much as Ororo likes Pepper's company, this doesn't look like your average social call. ]

Pepper, hello. I have time to spare, yes. Is something the matter?

[Even though she's already pestered Logan about learning how to fight better, Arya is getting the impression that this woman is the calm to balance out Logan's roughness. And she has seen the woman around before, which is probably why she even bothers asking. Still, she does try to keep it slightly private. This kind of admission would have been a quick way to get labeled a monster back home.]

What if we can't control it at all? The powers, I mean.

["DNA" - whatever that is - or magic or whatever, she's not entirely sure what's going on.]

[ Such a young voice. Ororo sometimes forgets how young some of the villagers are, and every time she's reminded she gets a funny little pang in her heart.

But she answers the girl kindly, smiling for her benefit. ]

Then we see if we can't find out how to control them. When I was much younger, I could barely control my own powers at all. I don't see why you can't do the same. [ Ororo's not an expert on all sorts of powers, but she wasn't going to dash a young girl's hopes so easily. ]

[That's somewhat comforting. She's not sure a warg is the same thing as what Ororo here and Logan can do, though. She bites her lip.]

It usually only happens if I'm asleep. I thought it was just dreams for a while. [Beat. She might as well ask.] Could a mutation make me be able to see through my wolf's eyes?

[ Ororo gives it a moment of thought. Hmm. ]

Well, I've heard of all sorts of mutations. Some are more common, while others are one of a kind. Perhaps yours is like the latter.

Do you know of anyone else who can do the same, in your world?

People used to say one of my brothers could turn into a wolf, but they also made up a lot of things. [She always just figured Grey Wind was doing his own fighting and then people blew it out of proportion.]

They tell stories about wargs... skinchangers... but they say that they all died out years ago or only live out beyond civilization in the north.

[ Ororo smiles. ] Well, I happen to have a young friend who can turn into a wolf at will. I've seen her do so with my own eyes. Perhaps it's not so different.

Someone can still be plenty scary if you want to train under 'em. I mean, Shura's pretty scary half the time too.

For true? [Maybe Old Nan wasn't quite as full of wind as she'd thought. Arya tries not to let that idea get into her head too much, though.] Everyone always said wargs were monsters who eat people.

[It's clear from Arya's tone that she thinks it's stupid, but she's putting it out there for a reaction. After all, if Robb really could turn into Grey Wind, she knows he wouldn't eat anyone.]

Shura? Have you another teacher, Rin?

And whatever the case, I'm certain that the last thing I want to do is scare any hopefuls away. That would be a little counterproductive, don't you think?

'Course I do. I wasn't born here or nothin'. I've got someone back home who's been working with me.

For true. [ Ororo slips into the strange phrasing easily enough. ] And I'm fairly certain that though she has a taste for her steak to be more rare than medium, she doesn't quite relish the thought of eating people. Or being referred to as a monster.

[Arya's mouth twitches into a smile at one corner, ever so slightly. It's gone almost as fast as it appears.]

People were still frightened, back home. They'd stare, if they thought the old stories were true. Or worse. [She still remembers the uncomfortable looks Gendry shot her whenever she'd howl back at the wolves or tell her that she'd been growling in her sleep.]

...It's not so bad here, is it?

[Otherwise she doubts anyone would be so open about what made them different.]

Ahh, of course. My apologies. Though I do hope that Wolverine is proving to be a suitable enough substitute in the meantime.

It definitely isn't. [ Ororo's own voice gentles, and she smiles sympathetically. It's hard not to draw similarities from the girl's situation and her own, back home. And for that reason, she wants to reach out to her all the more. ]

Mutants in my world are looked at in much the way as you describe - with open fear, and hostility. Because we are capable of things they do not take the time to understand.

But Luceti has proven to be much more open and accepting than I ever thought to expect.

[She nods. Luceti definitely has been far less hostile than anything back home. And Sharpe has told her about how pretty much everyone always gets along. And any friend of Logan's can most likely be trusted, since he doesn't exactly let just anyone close.]

Can you teach me how to control it, then? Even though it's different from your friend's powers?

[She loves Nymeria and all, but it's always a little odd when you suddenly find yourself zoned out of the human world and nose-deep in a world alive with different smells.]

Oh, of course he is! I've been learning all kinds of stuff from him. It sometimes feels like I'm not gettin' as much with my flames as I might have at home, but I guess I don't have the same kind of deadline.

[Or maybe he just doesn't see the immediately benefit of survival or hand to hand training or the like when in most situations he'll have his sword and in almost all situations he'll have his powers]

[Natasha steps out of one of the training rooms where she'd been assisting with training herself and spots Ororo at the console. Changing directions, she approaches the other woman with a smile.]
