Storm as seen in X-Men Evolution is different from her counterpart in the comic books in a few ways. Foremost of which, I think, is that in this universe (officially, Earth 11052), Storm has existing family in her sister (Vivian), her brother-in-law (unnamed in canon, but let's call him Carl for convenience's sake) and her nephew (Evan, codenamed Spyke).

With a bit of brain-wracking and headcanon-figuring, I've put together a rough timeline for the Storm of this reality. It's got elements from the few episodes that touch on her origins in the show, some information from the X-Men Evolution comic spin-off that ran for nine issues, and finally, bits and pieces of Storm's origins in the main comics continuity.

Ororo Iqadi Munroe was born to African-American photojournalist David Munroe and the African priestess N'Dare. The two met on one of his excursions to Kenya, where they fell in love and later got married. David eventually brought N'Dare with him to Harlem, New York, where they had their first daughter, Vivian. Eight years later, they have a second daughter who they name Ororo. However, David is called back to Africa for work, so the family relocates to Cairo when Ororo is only six months old. Ororo and Vivian have a relatively normal childhood, until a freak accident causes the death of their parents when they are 6 and 14 years old respectively.

1980614Orphaned in Egypt. The accident leaves 'Ro severely claustrophobic. The social service in Egypt apparently isn't very good, so the two are left to fend for themselves.
1981/827- 815-16Vi does odd jobs to help them get by, meanwhile 'Ro secretly learns to pickpocket and pick locks (mostly the latter) from the benevolent thief Achmed El-Gibar.
1983917Vi meets Carl Daniels on the streets of Cairo; they fall in love. She also finds out about Ororo's moonlighting as a thief's student. She doesn't approve at first, but apparently 'Ro doesn't really steal anything very often at all, she's just learning how to survive and whatever. (one day I may write a fic of this 8|)
19841018Apparently Vi and Carl are in a Pretty Serious relationship, because Ororo overhears them discussing marriage and moving to the States, where he has family and life will be easier, and her sister doesn't have to rely on thievery and street-smarts to live.
19851119'Ro's mutation manifests early, confusing everyone ever. Scared and not wanting to burden big sis and her future husband and their plans, she decides to run to her mother's original tribe where they recognize her because she inherited the hair and eyes once so distinctive of her mother's bloodline (she is 11 and a half when she leaves - it takes her about a year to cross the Serengeti)
19861220Ororo is aided (kinda?) by the elders of her mother's tribe who are somewhat familiar with her abilities (apparently they figure she inherited the latent magic her mother's bloodline is known for) She doesn't mind; at least her powers are helping people. Vi can't follow right away since Ro's powers make her sturdier against the desert sun. Or something. I don't really know for sure yet. |Da anyway, 'Ro plays the 'goddess' Windrider for a few years, until:
19891523Vi and Carl fix papers and things for moving back to the States, finally manage to track 'Ro down (she was gone about three years). They convince her to move with them to New York, where Evan is born later that year.
fast forward nine years'Ro manages to attend some high school, then college. In her early college years, she goes through a punk rock phase or, the infamous leather and mohawk era (which she outgrows ahah.)
19992432(Evan is 11) Evo!Comic: Ororo is an "eccentric graduate student", and meets Professor Charles Xavier when he gives a talk on genetics in her university. Things Happen and eventually, she, along with Logan, become the first X-Men.
20002533(Evan is 12) Evo!Comic: Charles converts his mansion in Bayville, New York into the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. Scott and Jean are the first students, and subsequently join the team. They also enroll as freshmen at Bayville High.
20012634(Evan is 13, his mutation manifests discreetly) Scott & Jean are sophomores.
20022735(Evan is 14) Season 1, 2. When the series begins, Scott & Jean are juniors, Kurt & Rogue are sophomores, Kitty and Evan are freshmen.
20032836(Evan is 15) Season 3. Early Season 3 marks the start of a new term, making them all one year older.
20042937(Evan is 16) Season 3/4. Jean and Scott graduate by the season 3 finale. Apocalypse arc! Shit gets real, man. :|b

Notes:
‣ ... the Munroe family must have some impressive genes 8| Vi looks pretty awesome for someone in her mid-thirtes,
‣ moving to the US in her teens would probably help explain her fairly good grasp on English despite long years in Africa. But her childhood would explain why she phrases some things the way she does?
‣ Ororo still returns to Tanzania once in a while (This is canon: Prof X mentions this a few times, like in the party episode where he leaves the kids alone because "With Ororo in Africa and Logan out on the open road...")
‣ Ororo and Vi probably have dual citizenship... and are likely fluent in English, Swahili and Arabic :|a
‣ Carl probably helped them fix and recover their official documents and things. because Carl is awesome. I just decided this.
‣ T'Challa exists in this verse! Ororo saved him from runaway bandits when they crossed paths during her ~journey of self-discovery~ across Africa. They separated though, because reasons.
