He groaned. "Yeah. I do." He finally opened his beer and headed towards the table to sit. "Though I ain't sure what needs saying."

"But you agree that there is something, that needs to be said. Yes?"

And since she had nothing on the stove Ororo moved to sit across from him. Dinner could wait. It would be better if they spoke about this properly, at least.

Something. Something to be said. Maybe the thing to be said was to just be blunt. Fair.

"... it happened. You'n me, we made love. There's no point in denying it. But that's all it was, 'Ro. Just that one time."

Just that one time. Ororo paused a beat before nodding. Well, that answered at least one of her questions.

She shook her head. "... I wasn't denying that it happened. I wondered if perhaps we were pretending that it didn't." Because acknowledging that it did might change things between them, and she wasn't sure if that would be good, or bad for them.

"I'm not pretending anything." But he didn't want to make it anything bigger than what it was. She deserved better than that.

"Neither am I." She took a moment to look down at where she'd folded her hands together on the table, gathering her thoughts. This really wasn't a conversation she thought she'd be having with Logan, of all people.

"... I suppose I just wanted to know where we stand." She liked his company too much for her to genuinely be all right with continuing dancing around each other these recent weeks, after all.

"I'd like to think we're standing in the same place we always have." Allies, teammates, friends. All of that. Anything more was... well, jut not in the cards.

"Very well." Ororo nodded once. Then she gave him a tentative smile. "I must admit, I was worried when things got a little... awkward, between us." It had been - well, it was good. But they probably shouldn't do it again.

"After something like that, I figure it ain't exactly easy to come from. Neither one of us were being ourselves."

She would argue that the attraction wasn't completely unfounded, at least. Not sudden and out of the blue like her other experiences that week had been. But that would complicate things unnecessarily; emotions were messy and this should be simple.

"That's true." She nodded once, then pushed herself back from the table. She had dinner to get back to. "... I'm glad we could talk about it, Logan. I'd missed speaking to you."

Deep down, he knew there was more to that encounter than just a little Malnosso magic. But admitting to that complicated things more than they needed to be.

"... yeah, likewise. You need me to pick up anything?"

"Well, if you wanted some meat to go with this dinner, you could pick some up from the store." They were all out, and she knew he wouldn't really appreciate an all-vegetable meal.

"I'm on it. Maybe there's time to salvage this dinner from being rabbit food." He stood up and headed to the door. "Be back soon."
