[ Her last memories of Luceti had been of snow. Looking around the forest and sensing the patterns of weather upon waking, however, told her it was now early autumn. Either she'd been gone several months or at least a year this time, she figured. Ororo wondered idly if there was a reason that she came and went like this. Something to ask the veterans of Luceti, she thought. ]

[ When she felt well enough, Storm took to the skies of Luceti: she knew her abiliities were dampened here in the enclosure, but she needed some time to reacquaint herself with Luceti's nature before looking for the village. She needed to calm herself, too; less powers also meant less control, and it would probably be better if she kept her emotions from starting an off-season monsoon. The random flashes of thunder and lightning from her annoyance at finding herself back in Luceti might attract unwanted attention, and how embarrassing would it be if someone noticed... ]

[ As soon as she centered herself, she changed course and headed for where she knew the village was. She remembered where the little house she'd stayed in previously was located as well, and checking the journal's callbox had let her know just who was still around and who from her world had arrived while she was "back at home." She figured there would be no harm in dropping by the house unannounced. Hopefully there was someone in House 16 to greet her! ]

[ Storm's first order of business after moving back into her old room at House 16 was to visit the stores for some essentials: the clothes shop being her first stop. As soon as she'd changed into and picked up some familiar clothes, she stepped back outside - and when it was safe, Ororo called down a bolt of lightning from the sky to strike the damned New Feather dress into ash. Subtle? Not in the least, but she had to vent somehow, right? Right. ]

[ Her next stops include the Item Store, and the grocery (to re-stock the house's food supply with some vaguely nutritious food), but her final stop of the day, despite the groceries and other items in her arms, would be Cloud Nine. Some of her clearer memories of Luceti were of the quaint little club, and Ororo rather hoped it would jog a few more of her memories... ]

[ Anyone in town is free to recognize or even bump into her as she makes her way around the village! Storm will be all over the place in general, seeking to re-familiarize herself with the town again. ]

[She's quickly realizing that he's more than a little scared, so she makes an effort to tone down the special effects. Her eyes recede to their normal blue.]

I'm sorry. [Shakes her head. Goddess, she usually has more control than this!] Please, do not be afraid. I promise, I mean no harm. [She tilts her head curiously, though-] But I'm afraid I don't know what you mean - I am not an avatar of anything.

I- I'm not afraid or anything. Sorry, I was just startled, because the lightning and your eyes- I almost thought you were someone from my world, that's all. [Yet another Avatar's the last thing he wants to deal with.] It's my mistake.

[She turns to regard him in interest.] Are those who wield lightning and have the eyes to match a common occurrence in your world?

No, not really. That's why I thought you might have been someone special. Lightning is a really powerful and dangerous skill that Firebenders can use. And glowing eyes is... it's something that happens to an Avatar when they enter the Avatar State.

That is interesting. I've heard of those who can manipulate fire or lightning, but never both. [Storm has to ask, curious:] And what happens when an avatar enters this state?

Well... in my world, there's people who can bend any one of the four elements. And only the Avatar can bend all four. The Avatar goes through a cycle of reincarnation, and the Avatar State is a special defense mechanism where the Avatar uses the knowledge of all their past lives and becomes so much more powerful. But it's also... really dangerous. Because the person doesn't really control it. It's like... an angry god.

[Ororo listens keenly, quite interested in how Aang describes these things. She has something of an affinity for elemental powers, and being able to discuss them so openly is a bit of a novelty for her.]

That sounds impressive, if a little frightening. Great power should always come hand in hand with the responsibility to wield it well and properly, and for this Avatar of yours to be without even the slightest bit of control... [Spoken with a voice of experience. She's been there, Aang. It's not a pretty place to be.]

[It's a bit odd for Aang to be describing the Avatar State openly, particularly to someone he just met, but she seems trustworthy at least. He gives a somber nod at her idea.]

It- it can be a horrible burden.

A burden, for sure, but surely one that can be overcome?

It'd hard to tell. The only method I know of controlling it... well it has a risk of me losing a part of my- of the person's self. Most of the time... the Avatar doesn't need more than his or her regular bending abilities, anyway.

[... Oh, wait, this child is actually-]

[Ororo blinks.]

Ah, my apologies. I hadn't realized that you were the Avatar you spoke of.

[... He's just a child!]

[She would've sound out sooner or later. He tries a sheepish grin.]

Heh, yeah. That's me... the Avatar. No need to apologize, I should have been upfront about who I am. My name's Aang.

And I am Ororo. [She smiles back; there's no need to be sheepish here, Aang!]

I must say, then, that it must be an honor to meet someone so young with such responsibility. [she rests a hand on his shoulder.]

[He blushes slightly.]

T-thank you. But a lot of my friends are real responsible too, I'm sure you'd love them. It's an honor to meet you, too, Ororo. [Remembering that it looked like a New Feather dress that she just scorched...] Do you need any help finding your way around this place?

Thank you, but this is not actually my first time in Luceti. [Or second, really.] I'm taking my time in relearning the village again, however. Not much has changed, but my memories of the finer details are shaky at best...

Oh, sorry. I didn't know. I was here a few times in the past without remembering. I'll still help you around if you need anything, gladly!

There's no need to apologize; I'm told that it is far more likely to have no memories of a previous stay in Luceti than it is to retain them.

But thank you, Aang, that's very kind of you. I've only been back a few hours, I don't quite remember everything just yet.

I see what you mean. That did happen to Toph last time she came here... I think it took her most of the day to remember everything from her last time here. If you were here before, do you know any of my friends like Katara or Sokka or Toph? [It's not a big chance since she didn't seem to have heard of stuff from his world but Aang wants to take a shot anyway.] If you like me, you'll love them!

[Headtilts, considering.] The names sound familiar, but I do not believe I knew them personally... But perhaps that will change, this time around.

It definitely can't hurt to get to know them! But I guess one good thing about this place is that it's easy to make all kinds of great friends from other worlds.

Yes, I agree. It's fascinating, I couldn't begin to imagine just how many worlds exist apart from the ones we come from.

I know! I keep meeting people from all kinds of different worlds. I haven't been keeping count, and I don't think I'd be able to if I tried!

All the more people to befriend then, yes? [Because Aang seems like the type to make friends easily, and frequently.]

Yep! [Correct.] Like you! That's one more friend.

[Ororo chuckles a little.]

Well, now. That's quite an honor, isn't it? To be counted as a friend of the Avatar. [Smiling warmly.]
